4.6.5.3.1 Data acquisition equipment. To verify the 50 microsecond rise time of the fire pulse, the data
acquisition equipment shall digitize the analog voltage signals at a minimum rate of 100,000 samples per
second. The data acquisition equipment shall also display or provide a plot of the fire pulse signal, so that the
pulse rise time can be measured. The recommended sampling rate is at or above 10,000,000 samples per
second for 100 microseconds producing 1,000 samples that completely capture the entire fire pulse rise.
The function time measurement data acquisition equipment shall digitize two channels of analog voltage
signals from the light detectors at a minimum rate of 50,000 samples per second per channel for 10
milliseconds after the initial fire pulse producing at least 500 samples at an accuracy of 20 microseconds. The
data acquisition equipment shall also display or provide a plot of the two light detector signals so that the
function time can be measured, and store the digital data. The recommended rate is at or above 1,000,000
samples per second for 10 milliseconds producing 10,000 samples at an accuracy of 1 microsecond.
The vertical accuracy of this scope or digitizer shall be a minimum of 8 bits. A 12 bit or better unit is
recommended. The sensitivity of the recording scope or digitizer should be set so that the vertical span of the
data pulses should be at least half of the vertical span of the recording scope or digitizer.
